With its exceptional climate and beautiful view sites over the Indian Ocean, Plettenberg Bay is perfect for tourists interested in exploring, watching or just lazing.

Langkloof CloseArea Info
The Fruit Route, better known as the Langkloof, lies in the valley between the Kamanasie and Kouga mountains in the north, and the Outeniqua- Langkloof and Tsitsikamma mountains in the south.
This area, which stretches along the valley for more than 160km, used to be the home ground of Bushmen and Gonagua Hottentots. Today it is the second largest fruit production area in South Africa - specialising in apples and pears, with many other varieties of fruit also grown.
Joubertina is the main town in the Langkloof. In 1807 the Reverend W.A.Joubert of Uniondale established a Dutch Reformed rural community on the Langkloof farm. The Reverend was totally against alcohol, and one of his conditions for the community was that no alcohol was to be sold within the town. This law still applies today, although the town is much larger and therefore there are "watering holes" in the town.
The Langkloof boasts many activities, including 4x4, Horse Riding, Trekking, Fishing, visiting farms and Helicopter rides. It is also the home of early Bushmen paintings and the famous Kouga Mummy. The only mummy ever found in the southern hemisphere.

Albertinia CloseArea Info
Albertinia, a peaceful little town lying at the foot of the Langeberg Mountain range, is known as the home of the Aloe. The indigenous Aloe ferox, or Cape Aloe, grows prolifically in the area and the leaves are collected and drained for its bitter-tasting sap used in the health and skin care industries.
There are two Aloe factories in Albertinia - the only place in South Africa where the aloe juice and gel are extracted from the colourful aloe species that cover this area during the winter months of June and July. A skincare manufacturer is also based in the town and welcomes visitors to tour their facilities and learn more about the Aloe.
For such a little town Albertinia, which lies between the towns of Riversdale and Mossel Bay, has a couple of distinctive industries. The town, named after the Reverend JR Albertyn, is also the primary source of red and yellow ochre, used in the manufacturing of paints and the colouring of cement and linoleum in South Africa. In addition, the area produces the natural thatch reed, Thamnochortus insignis, for commercial thatching and has a large livestock farming community, including ostrich farming.
The Klein Karoo Wine Route, which stretches from Montagu, ends in Albertinia where, because the climate is so dry, vineyards tend to be organically cultivated and a variety of quality wines are produced against the mountain slopes. You can hike through the Reins Nature Reserve in Gouritsmond, bungee jump from the Gourits River Bridge, just outside Albertinia, or play a round of golf on one of the few remaining sand golf courses.

Stilbaai CloseArea Info
Stilbaai, also known as the Bay of Sleeping Beauty, is a town along the southern coast of South Africa about four hours by car from Cape Town. It is part of the Hessequa Local Municipality in the Western Cape province. Alternate spellings of the town's name include Stillbay, Stilbay, Stillbaai and Stilbaai.
The town hosts a variety of B&B lodges and a friendly warm coast for surfing and swimming. During the peak of summer the warm waters at times become packed with blue bottles (a stinging sea creature also known as a portuguese man-of-war) when an easterly wind is blowing and the chance of being stung by one is high.
Stilbaai is host to a number of interesting archaeological sites, including ancient fish traps thought to have been built by early ancestors of the Khoi people of the Southern Cape, and a shell landfill that has been carbon dated to around 1000 BC.
Another archaeological site is situated in a group of caves at Blombos cave, about 12 kilometers from Stilbaai. Artifacts found at Blombos have been carbon dated to around 77,000 BP, making it the oldest known human settlement today.
